Storytelling to Lift Immigrant Communities

Now more than ever, we must uplift the importance and value of immigrant communities and urge others to recognize the Light in every person. FCNL is encouraging more positive, honest, and compassionate dialogue around migration justice through storytelling. Your stories and perspectives matter to humanize a highly-politicized issue as we advance the World We Seek.

If you have lived experience, work or volunteer with immigrants in your community, or feel otherwise compelled to tell your story, we would love to hear from you. This could include remarks related to welcome and respite, asylum and refugee protections, pathways to citizenship for undocumented individuals, or the harms of mass deportation and detention, among other topics. FCNL may share stories on social media platforms, in lobby visits with members of Congress and their staff, in remarks to press and in public speaking engagements, and/or in communications with constituents and coalitions. Here is a guide for how to tell your story.

Follow the steps on this page to offer your work toward migration justice and personalized accounts of why immigrants matter to you and your communities. Now is the time to mobilize, shift the narrative, and uplift the value of the immigrant communities we belong to, know, and love.

If the story you are sharing is about someone else, please indicate here your relationship to this person and whether you have their permission to share it.

You don't have to be a storytelling expert: the key is sharing why you care and what the immigrant community means to you! Written submissions, videos, and audio recordings are all welcome.
