Next week, Congress will vote on legislation that would use tens of billions of our tax dollars to expand the war in Afghanistan.
On Tuesday, May 12, I'm joining with the Friends Committee on National Legislation and other national organizations to urge my representative to vote against spending more money on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. I hope you'll join me by calling your representative too.
The president's supplemental funding request is not designed to wind down and end the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Rather than voting for more money for war, Congress should insist on an exit strategy in Afghanistan and invest in the long-term diplomacy and development assistance that will lead to a comprehensive and stable peace.
