1. Hill Update: House Passes 2410 – Prevent War Bill

Thank you for your messages in support of HR 2410, the Foreign Relations Authorization Act. Last week, the House passed this important legislation by a vote of 235 to 187! Check out how your representative voted, and be sure to thank your rep. if he or she supported the bill.

The bill would significantly expand funds for diplomacy, development and international cooperation, as well as require the Secretary of State to develop a government wide strategy to prevent genocide and mass atrocities. Read more about why FCNL supported the legislation.

Now it’s time for the Senate to act. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (MA) has directed his staff to develop a similar bill to authorize funds for the State Department.

2. Take Action: Urge the Senate to Act

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee is expected to introduce a state department authorization bill this summer. Given other competing priorities, your senators need to hear from you. Urge them to support swift passage of a bill to expand funds for diplomacy, development and international cooperation.
